SUMMARY:Next Generation of Healthcare: Resilience and Circularity
DESCRIPTION:Date: 23 June\, 10:00-12:00\nLocation: Nordic House\, Rue du Luxembourg 3\, 1000 Brussels\nFormat: Hybrid \nVinylPlus Healthcare will contribute to the ERRIN Health Working Group event “Next Generation of Healthcare: Resilience and Circularity” on 23 June in Brussels. \nERRIN is a Brussels-based network of innovative European regions\, working to strengthen the regional and local dimension in EU research and innovation policies and programmes. The event brings together health\, sustainability and innovation stakeholders to explore how circular approaches can support more resilient healthcare systems. \nOle Grøndahl Hansen\, Coordinator of VinylPlus Healthcare\, will present how circular solutions for plastic-based medical devices can be developed in practice through cooperation across hospitals\, suppliers\, recyclers and manufacturers. \nDrawing on VinylPlus Healthcare’s experience from hospital collection and recycling projects in Belgium and France\, the presentation will highlight both the opportunities and the practical conditions needed to make medical device recycling work: controlled material streams\, high-quality sorting\, documentation\, regulatory clarity and downstream acceptance of recyclate. \nProgramme

SUMMARY:The VinylPlus Sustainability Forum 2026
DESCRIPTION:Date: 10–11 June 2026\nLocation: Genval\, Belgium\nFormat: In-person event \nMAKE.IT.HAPPEN. IN EUROPE\nHow to reconcile competitiveness and sustainability in Europe\nWith the theme MAKE.IT.HAPPEN. IN EUROPE\, the VinylPlus Sustainability Forum 2026 (VSF2026) will examine how Europe can reconcile competitiveness and sustainability. \nThe VSF2026 will take place in person in Genval\, Belgium on 10 and 11 June 2026\, and gather policymakers\, UN representatives\, NGOs\, academics and industry leaders. Over a day and a half\, participants will engage in inspiring presentations\, panel discussions\, roundtables and networking sessions. \nEurope is at a pivotal moment\, working hard to maintain industrial strength while meeting ambitious climate and circularity objectives. The European PVC value chain – deeply rooted in production and innovation – is uniquely placed to demonstrate how this balance can be achieved while delivering tangible benefits for our society. For 25 years\, through VinylPlus®\, the PVC industry in Europe has been a pioneer in sustainability and circularity. With VinylPlus 2030\, its third 10-year commitment to sustainable development\, the industry continues to advance the transition toward a more sustainable and circular future. \nWe have now reached the midpoint of our 2030 Commitment. In 2025\, we carried out a mid-term review of our ambitious targets – an important moment to reflect on EU and global developments\, as well as on the progress and challenges facing the PVC industry. At a time when industry must remain competitive and innovative while addressing global pressures\, collaboration is essential. By working together – industry\, regulators\, NGOs and academia – we can identify policy gaps to address Europe’s competitiveness crisis and therefore strengthen Europe’s resilience and autonomy and secure a brighter future for the PVC value chain in Europe. \nAt the VSF2026\, the question How can Europe reconcile competitiveness and sustainability? will be explored through three interconnected sessions\, each addressing a critical pillar of Europe’s future: \n\nMake. Water Resilience. Happen. in Europe\nMake. Affordable Housing. Happen. in Europe\nMake. Sustainability. Happen. in Europe\n\n#VSF2026: Be part of the discussion\, exchange ideas during our roundtables\, listen to inspiring presentations. Register now to VSF2026. \nProgramme and registration

SUMMARY:Select4Care Closing Event
DESCRIPTION:The medical sector is facing a growing waste challenge. Large volumes of medical waste are generated every year\, while reuse and recycling rates remain low. Many medical products are still designed for single use\, despite the availability of advanced materials and technologies that can enable a second life. \n\n\n\nTo address this in a Flemish context\, VIL and Denuo launched the Select4Care project. The project focuses on selective collection\, sorting\, dismantling and high-quality recycling of medical products and materials. It also actively involves manufacturers\, promoting design for recycling so that end-of-life considerations are integrated from the earliest design stages. \n\n\n\nAt the Select4Care closing event on 22 January\, stakeholders and industry players will share the project’s results\, practical experiences and lessons learned\, highlighting how medical waste streams can be managed more efficiently and sustainably. \n\n\n\nAs part of the programme\, Ole Grøndahl Hansen\, Project Leader at VinylPlus Healthcare\, will present how medical PVC fits into high-quality recycling systems. His presentation is supported by VinylPlus and aligns closely with the VinylPlus Med® recycling activities in Belgium\, where concrete solutions for the collection and recycling of medical PVC are already in operation. \n\n\n\nThe session will place Select4Care’s outcomes in a wider European context\, illustrating how established material knowledge\, regulatory compliance and value-chain collaboration can support scalable recycling models for medical plastics.

SUMMARY:PVC Formulation
DESCRIPTION:Vinyl in a Circular Healthcare Economy – New Study and New Industry Platform\n\n\n\nA groundbreaking new study by Spanish technical institute AIMPLAS confirms that flexible vinyl – also known as PVC – used in medical devices can be mechanically recycled up to six times without significant loss of quality. This is a major step forward in creating a circular healthcare economy by reducing waste\, improving resource efficiency\, and maintaining patient safety. \n\n\n\nIn this presentation\, Ole Grøndahl Hansen\, Project Leader of the newly established VinylPlus Healthcare\, will present both the key findings of this study and the vision behind the new platform. VinylPlus Healthcare is a strong signal that the vinyl industry is stepping up its communication and collaboration around the role of this essential material in healthcare – with a clear focus on science\, sustainability\, and innovation. \n\n\n\nJoin this session to learn how facts\, research\, and forward-looking strategies are coming together – and how your business can be part of this development. \n\n\n\nProgramme and registration.
